Vibration damper
Vibration dampers are absolutely necessary when using long tools for deep hole boring. Long tools for deep hole boring are understood as a common unit consisting of the tool itself and the drill tube. Because of the mechanical stress while machining, the tool often tends to torsion and bending vibrations. These vibrations reduce the endurance of the inserts and guide pads in use and cause damage to the boring surface of the workpiece. For these reasons it is indispensable to damp and to support the drill tube outside of the workpiece. An adaption of the damper to the current vibrations is also necessary while machining.
